LECTURER POSITION
Department of Land, Air and Water Resources (LAWR), University of California, Davis

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Land, Air and Water Resources offers a temporary Lecturer position to instruct SSC102 in Winter 2022.

The course description is as follows: Introduction to the basics of soil chemistry, providing students with the fundamentals of chemical processes occurring in the soil. Topics which are covered include soil minerals, natural organic matter, surface charge, soil solution chemistry, redox reactions in soil, and sorption of inorganic and organic contaminants. A basic knowledge of inorganic chemistry is required. This course is offered in the Winter quarter (3 units).

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach one lower division course in SSC 102: Environmental Soil Chemistry.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Temporary Lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions which require professional, as well as academic, expertise. Temporary Lecturers may be selected to fill teaching needs occasioned by leave of regular faculty or to enhance and compliment the strengths of faculty teaching related courses. Therefore, in any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary.

SSC 102: Environmental Soil Chemistry
Lecture3 hour(s). Prerequisite(s): General chemistry; SSC 100 or equivalent recommended. Soil chemistry processes related to the fate and transport of contaminants in soil. Soil minerals, natural organic matter, surface charge, soil solution chemistry, redox reactions in soil, and sorption of inorganic and organic contaminants. GE credit: QL, SE, SL.
