JOB SUMMARY

The College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, Cooperative Extension System is accepting applications for a Data Analyst (Academic Assistant 1), based on its Storrs Campus. The Data Analyst will focus on the areas of data collection, analysis, reporting, data management, and data administration in support of the UConn Extension System. This position will report to the CAHNR Associate Dean for Extension. The Data Analyst will work with Extension and College leadership to develop institutional and programmatic metrics for the UConn Extension System. Additionally, the Data Analyst will work closely with administrators, faculty, and staff to increase the Extension System's capacity to measure program outcomes and impact and provide insight, through data, to improve organizational efficiency, across the Extension System. Finally, the Data Analyst will collaborate with CAHNR's Director of the Office of Communications and UConn Extension's Educational Program Administrator to visualize and communicate Extension's impact and public value through the data collected.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather and analyze data from various databases and sources; perform statistical analyses; develop and/or maintain databases in support of program planning, reporting, and accountability efforts.

  • Develop reports, summaries, and recommendations, including economic and program impacts, strategic vision impacts, and other analyses as needed for reporting and accountability to relevant Extension stakeholders.

  • Provide collected data analyses and review results with the Associate Dean for Extension.

  • Provide reviewed and vetted data results to the appropriate CAHNR colleagues for dissemination to the public.

  • Design and implement data collection and process improvements to improve the efficiency of reporting and the quality of data used for accountability and reporting.

  • Lead the coordination between UConn Extension, the Storrs Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station to ensure the timely creation and submission of the joint federal Plan of Work and Annual Report of Accomplishments.

  • Advance CAHNR's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice by using data to assess UConn Extension's efforts to provide programming for all and reduce inequities and disparities that exist in Connecticut's communities.

  • Assist in developing data visualizations to support decision-making internally, and effectively communicate Extension's value to public officials, legislators, the public, and other interested parties.

  • Regularlyattend and actively engage in state and national program activities as appropriate, including meetings, committees, and conferences.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and twoor moreyears of experience in a relevant field such as education, economics, behavioral and social sciences, or public policy.

  • Professional experience with data management procedures,such asSPSS or SAS, Microsoft Excel and Access, and Qualtrics.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills such as statistical analysis, economic impacts, needs assessment, program planning, and evaluation.

  • Ability to work independently and as an engaged and collegial team member.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and through writing.

  • Ability to travel to various sites around the state (valid driver's license required).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as education, economics, behavioral and social sciences, or public policy.

  • Professional experience providing and managing data in an organization on a strategic level.

  • Professional experience providing reporting data for state and/or federal funding agencies, foundations, or corporate funders.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop reports for organizational decision-making and/or accountability efforts.

  • Experience documenting and publishing programmatic impacts and/or public value statements.

  • Experience with data visualization software, such as PowerBI or Tableau.

  • Familiarity with Extension Systems or similar programs.


APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, end-dated position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding. The anticipated start date is August 11, 2023.
