Job Summary:
The Department of General Agriculture invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

The instructor will provide innovative instruction in our Agricultural Sciences classes while also engaging and providing service, as needed, in our Leadership, Agricultural Education, and Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Communications programs. This instructor will coordinate, facilitate, and teach Native American courses, develop additional courses, and lead co-generative collaboration with Tribal/Indigenous communities. The position will support the university, College of Agricultural Sciences, and Department of Agricultural Education and Agricultural Sciences strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities
75% TeachingTeach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Agricultural Sciences, with a specific emphasis on teaching our departments Native American-focused courses.Develop and redevelop both Ecampus and Corvallis campus Agricultural Sciences courses.
20% Program Administration and AdvisingServe as the coordinator of the departments Native American courses. Serve as the lead for course development and planning for these courses. Facilitate relationships with on and off campus community members. Coordinate continuity across program offerings.Serve as an advisor/mentor to Agricultural Sciences students interested in this area of study.
5% Service and Professional DevelopmentService the department, college, university and profession through committee service and leadership as appropriate and requested by the department, college and university administration. The individual in this position is encouraged to serve on state, regional, national and/or Tribal committees appropriate to position responsibilities and to participate in professional organization activities. Examples of service activities could include serving on College of Agricultural Sciences committees, OSU leadership committees, and professional organizations.

What You Will Need
Masters degree in Agriculture, Native American/Indigenous Studies, Environmental Sustainability, Natural Resources, Anthropology, Food Systems, Land Stewardship, or related discipline

Expertise in agricultural science as related to Indigenous people

Evidence of successful teaching experience in formal and/or nonformal Agricultural Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), or Native American science courses.

Demonstrated background and experience working with Tribal nations/indigenous communities.

Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the ability to work with diverse faculty, students, industry clientele, and stakeholders.

Demonstrated success and commitment to effective teaching, research, scholarship, and/or service.

Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of types of learners in diverse settings such as online education, continuing professional development, et cetera.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, develop partnerships, and coordinate teams to implement new ideas, initiatives, or programs.

What We Would Like You to Have
PhD or terminal degree in Agriculture, Native American/Indigenous Studies, Environmental Sustainability, Natural Resources, Anthropology, Food Systems, Land Stewardship, or related discipline

Demonstrated ability to teach in other department areas including agricultural education and agricultural sciences and natural resource communications

Demonstrated success in undergraduate and graduate student mentoring
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with local, state, national, and Tribal communities/stakeholders
