Extension Educator 3 or 4: Livestock Beef

Penn State Extension is seeking an Extension Educator. The Extension Educator will design, develop, and deliver educational programs focused on sustainable, economic livestock management practices; adoption of production practices that contribute to increased productivity and profitability of livestock enterprises; develop diverse, value-added livestock production enterprises that contribute to economic growth and improve the sustainability of livestock enterprises through development of business and marketing plans. Conduct individual educational consultations (business and farm visits) to evaluate agricultural production, management, and business practices. Generate and provide alternatives to improve business management, marketing, productivity, environmental soundness, farmworker safety, animal well-being, profitability, efficiency, and sustainability. Establish and conduct on-farm research and demonstrations in collaboration with Extension specialists, livestock/agriculture entrepreneurship teams, and cooperating farmers.

This job will be filled as a level 3 or 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
